Helen O’Neil Eady, of Savannah died peacefully April 13, 2006, at Savannah Square surrounded by family and loved ones.
Helen was born on July 20, 1917 to Charles J. and Mary Evans O’Neil and lived in Savannah all her life. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of fifty-eight years, Frank Oliver Eady. Helen was a loving Mother and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, singing, and helping others. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. She was past president of the Savannah Rose Society and won many awards at flower shows for her roses, camellias and flower arrangements. She was past president of the OptiMrs’s Club of Savannah and volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Center for many years. In 1969 she began a career with The Atlantic Realty and Insurance Agency, which lasted until her retirement in 1994. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she loved singing in the choir.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn Eady and Eugene Heyward Mason; a son and daughter-in-law, Oliver Stephen Eady III and Emily Short Eady; seven grandchildren and their spouses Laurie and Billy Brown, Jeanne and David Paddison, Frank and Kirby Mason, Amy and Tom Roberson, Helen and Tony Brown all of Savannah, Emily and Richard Manning of Suwanee, Georgia and Gina and Oliver Stephen Eady IV of Duluth, Georgia; thirteen great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, April 16, 2006 with a Vigil Service at 7:00p.m. at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2006 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church .
Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park 1600 Wheaton St.
In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 1003 E. Victory Drive Savannah, GA 31405 or Saint Mary’s Home 2710 East Victory Drive Savannah, GA 31404.
